美濃の赤土を用いて轆轤成形。
土がまだ柔らかいうちに胴を楕円に変形し、耳を付け、花入が上に向かってスクッと立ち上がるような勢いをつけるため下部をはっきりした縦面取りする。 素焼の後、まず透明釉を掛け、その上から独自の"今古釉"を掛け、底廻りに赤土が見えるように掛け外す。釉薬が乾かない内に、片面に土が覗くように指で円相になぞる。 酸化焼成により２種の釉薬が溶け合い、円相部分が自然な景色となる。下部の強い緋色が全体に大胆な要素を加えている。一方その反対側の面はおとなしく穏やかな雰囲気がある。 このスッキリした花入はいずれを正面に使っても、光沢ある緑の葉のピンクの椿を入れるもよし、２月の花紅梅一枝を挿すもよし、はたまた雅な牡丹一輪もよく映る。

Wheel thrown with red MINO clay, then while still wet, altered into a soft oval shape before adding ears and cutting strong vertical facets around the lower portion of the form to create an upward momentum. This contrasts with the horizontal crisscrossing grooves and throwing rings.
After bisque firing, I first poured on a layer of clear glaze, then followed with another layer of my proprietary “Konko” glaze on top, leaving some of the red clay body around the base exposed. I wiped a circle with my fingers in the wet glaze on one side, exposing the clay beneath. In the oxidation firing the circle became a freeform effect as the glazes fluxed together. The strong fire color at the base added a bold element to the total composition. The opposite side offers a quieter overall effect. Either way, imagine this sophisticated form with a branch of rich green leaves around a pink camellia, red plum blossoms or even an elegant peony in almost any color to light up your favorite tokonoma!
