今古黒梅鉢

赤味のある美濃土を用い、轆轤成形.土がまだ柔らかいうちに外側五ヶ所を押し、花弁のような形を作ってから高台を削り出した。素焼き後、口縁と外側の稜線部分には刷毛で瀬戸黒釉を施し、内側中央部にも少量垂らした。その後、器を逆さにして今古釉に浸し、内側には少量の釉薬を注ぎ、器を揺らすことで五弁の文様を描き、梅花を思わせる輪郭として赤土を残しました。酸化焼成で1220℃まであげています。

小ぶりな菓子鉢や預け鉢として最適なサイズですが、日常の食卓では用途を選ばず、特に少人数でのお食事に重宝する器です。

Konko Guro Umebachi

Made on the wheel with red Mino clay, while still soft the bowl was indented into 5 sections before trimming the foot. After bisque firing I applied black Seto Guro glaze with a brush on the rim and outer lobes as well as drips in the center before dipping the piece upside down into my yellow Konko glaze. I poured a small amount of glaze inside and rolled it into each lobe to create a 5 petal pattern on the inside leaving red clay exposed to outline the plum blossom shape.

The bowl was fired to 1220° in oxidation. It’s an ideal size for a small “kashibachi” or “azukebachi” but can be used for almost anything on your dinner table, especially if you’re only a couple people.
