今古黒（こんこぐろ）ハート形／猪目（いのめ）茶碗

このハート形の今古黒茶碗は、2026年最初の「今月の逸品」にふさわしい作品だと思います。2026年は、いつも以上に思いやり（コンパッション）が求められる一年になりそうですし、またこの時期は、アメリカで祝うバレンタインデーが、今では日本を含め世界各地でも広く親しまれている月でもあります。

この深目の茶碗は、轆轤成形の後、ハート形（猪目形）に歪ませて仕上げました。土は、私が30年以上寝かせてきた美濃の土を独自に調合したものです。素焼き後、正面には濃い瀬戸黒釉をたっぷり掛け、さらに内側に私の今古釉を流し入れ、外側の大部分にも回しかけました。釉薬が自然に流れ、内外ともに迫力ある流動景色が生まれています。酸化焼成にて1220度で焼き上げました。

実用面では、茶を点てる際に茶碗を90度回し、正面が客付になる向きでお使いいただくことをおすすめします。写真は、実際にお茶を入れて差し上げた時の美しさがよく分かる角度で撮影しています❣️

Konko Guro Heart-Shaped / Inome Chawan

This Heart-Shaped Konko Guro Chawan seems like the ideal work for my first Selection of the Month for 2026, a year we will need an extra dose of compassion as well as being the month when we celebrate Valentines Day in America and now popular in many countries around the world, and of course Japan.

This deep chawan was wheel-thrown and altered into this heart shape using a blend of Mino clays that I have been aging for over 30 years！

After bisque firing I dipped the front into thick Seto Guro glaze then poured my Konko glaze inside and over most of the outside, allowing the glazes to run, creating the dramatic flowing scenery both inside and out. It was fired at 1220 degrees in oxidation. For practical use I do recommend turning the bowl 90 degrees so the front is facing the guest when whisking the tea. These photos show how beautiful it looks when you serve tea in it❣️
