今古黒手付花入

美濃の赤土を用いて轆轤成形。

口縁を木瓜形に波打たせ、両サイドに透かしの入った手を付け、胴部を大胆に面取りする。

素焼の後、口縁と手の部分を瀬戸黒釉に浸け、次に全体を透明釉に浸け、柄杓で今古釉を底部から流し掛け内部にも流す。

およそ1220℃の酸化焼成により、３種の釉薬が溶け合って、まるで崖を勢い良く流れ落ちる瀧のような景色を呈している。

夏の草花でも、冬は椿一輪でも、よく映る。陶器の籠ともいえますね。

Konko Guro Vase with Handle
Konko Guro Tetsuki Hanaire

This vase was made on the wheel with Mino red clay and the top rim altered into a lobed shape. A soft handle was added with cutouts and the body was boldly faceted.

After bisque firing, the handle and top rim were dipped in Seto Guro glaze before most of the piece was covered with a clear glaze. Next my Konko glaze was poured on upside down and inside leaving some red clay exposed around the flared base.

The piece was fired in oxidation to 1220 degrees, allowing the 3 glazes to flux together in soft runs to the base like waterfalls off a cliff. The elegant form and dramatic glaze flows will work beautifully with summer flowers & grasses as well as camellias throughout the ro season.
