今古釉茶碗

美濃の赤土を用い轆轤成形。柔らかいうちにゆるいひし形にしさらに胴部に不規則な横筋を刻み、高台は手削りで仕上げた。

素焼きの後、内外に酸化銅(タンパン)を散らし、アメリカの今古釉を三角掛けする。1210度の酸化焼成。高台脇に私のサインと窯印を並べて捺し、これが本年、私七十歳の作であることを示す。

柔らかい菱形は、お茶が点てやすく飲みやすい。また手によく馴染む。

Konko-Yū Chawan

Thrown on the wheel with red Mino clay, this bowl was altered into a semi-diamond shape while soft and trimmed with horizontal yet irregular grooves and I hand-trimmed the foot.

After bisque firing copper oxide was applied randomly both inside and out before glazing the bowl with a triangular dip in my American Konko-Yū glaze and fired in oxidation to 1210 ℃. The combination of my personal sign and my kiln stamp side by side next to the foot signifies this bowl was made this year (my 70th).

The soft diamond shape makes it particularly easy to both whisk the tea as well as drink it, not to mention fit comfortably in one’s hands. ENJOY❗️
