粉引三日月茶碗

この茶碗は、私の窯の近くで採れた地元の粘土を使い、ろくろで成形しました。全体の形を整えている最中に石が落ちてしまい、口縁の近くに穴が開いてしまいました。素焼きの後、白いスリップに浸して三日月模様を作り、透明釉で全面を覆いました。焼成後、外側のスリップが器から剥がれ始め、最終的には、残ったわずかなスリップで輪郭が描かれた暗い月の形と、内側のくっきりとした三日月模様が残り、信じられないほど珍しい光景を生み出しました。まさに二度と再現されることのない「一期一會」の作品です！

初秋、お月見の茶会に最適な茶碗です。

Kohiki Mikazuki Chawan

This tea bowl was made on the wheel with local clay dug near my kiln. After trimming a stone fell out leaving a hole near the lip. After bisque firing it was dipped in white slip to create the crescent moon pattern and completely covered with a clear glaze. After firing the slip on the outside began to lift off the body, ultimately leaving the dark moon shape outlined by small bits of remaining slip with a sharp crescent moon pattern on the inside, creating some truly rare scenery. A wonderful “Ichigo Ichie”creation that will never be repeated!

An ideal chawan for an early autumn moon viewing tea.
